Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.95%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which rose 5.67% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.490 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 5.19% or 0.148 points to end at 3.000 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 4.62% or 0.012 points to 0.272 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr), which fell 4.39% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.180 at the close. K.L.M. (AT:KLUr) declined 4.23% or 0.030 points to end at 0.680 and Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) was down 2.90% or 0.400 points to 13.400.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 67 to 37 and 15 ended unchanged.

Shares in Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.39% or 0.100 to 2.180.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.40 to $1301.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.26% or 0.17 to hit $66.53 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.62 to trade at $76.50 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1776, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8806.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.63.
